Fed with 450 ohm windowline and using the antenna tuner this antenna is efficient on every band. Total length is approximately 130 feet. Ends are only about 8 and 12 feet above ground. The mast is 35 feet above ground. Windowline is approximately 39 feet long.
Using electric fence stand-offs I keep the 450 ohm line from touching the house. Another benefit of the stand-offs is they keep the wind from flopping the feedline around.
The mast is mounted to the side of the house just below the eave. I used a 12 foot oak pole for the mast.
The Hustler 5btv. I removed the 75 meter resonator to lessen the wind load. The 17M dx engineering kit is mounted to the 10M trap. At the base I used a radial plate to connect 72 ground radials of varying length. This antenna works very well for me.
Here is the radial plate showing the 72 radials. The radials are buried about 1 inch below the ground. The feedline is going to the dx engineering choke balun. I debated buying one but after coiling the coax did not do much to keep RF from the shield I thought it a good investment. It was a great investment!
I found a great webiste that shows in simple terms how to build this. Click here to check it out! Then I painted it to match the satellite dish!
